About Dip LLC

Dip Sustainable Hair Care is a New Jersey–based, women-owned company creating salon-grade, plastic-free shampoo and conditioner bars made in the USA. Dip’s mission is to make sustainability accessible, fun, and performance-driven—helping consumers and salons reduce single-use plastic without sacrificing results. Dip partners with over 200 small refill shops, surf stores, and eco-salons nationwide, proving that great hair and a healthy planet can go hand in hand.

Key Sustainable Actions

Waste

Waste Reduction Practices

Dip eliminates plastic waste at the source by replacing bottled haircare with salon-grade shampoo and conditioner bars that last 6–12 months and replace up to 12 plastic bottles each. All packaging is compostable, recyclable, or reusable — even shipping materials. The company also upcycles “deadstock” bottles and materials into limited-edition “Great-Filled” collections to divert waste from landfills. Dip has diverted approximately 2.08 million plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles since launching in 2021. The equivalent of about 229,000 pounds of plastic kept out of landfills and waterways.

Community

Support Community Initiatives

Dip's entire business model is built around strengthening local economies. Instead of selling through Amazon or big-box stores, Dip partners exclusively with over 200 independent refill shops, surf stores, and eco-salons across the U.S.(and many in NJ, strengthening local economies here). The brand reinvests in these small businesses by driving customers to shop locally and hosting community-building experiences that celebrate sustainability and small business ownership.

Environmental Restoration

Participate in Environmental Restoration Projects

Dip is a proud partner of the Surfrider Foundation, donating $50,000 to support ocean protection and clean water initiatives. These dollars fund beach cleanups, public education, and policy advocacy aimed at reducing single-use plastic pollution. The partnership reflects Dip's commitment to preserving coastlines and supporting grassroots environmental restoration efforts. Dip is present on site for many Surfrider events around the nation.

Management & Leadership

Adopt an Environmental Policy Statement

Dip is a women-owned, bootstrapped manufacturer that prioritizes transparency, ethical production, and U.S.-based jobs. Founder Kate Assaraf, who was voted NJ's Mompreneur of the Year Award, leads with a values-first approach: advocating for sustainable manufacturing, fair labor practices, and economic independence from monopolistic platforms. Dips small team operates under a “people, planet, profit” model, embedding sustainability into every business decision. Specifically, we never ship plastic wrapped pallets to 3PLs, Amazon or other big box warehouses.

Industry-Specific Practices

Implement Environmental Practices specific to your Industry

Dip challenges the beauty industry's throwaway culture by proving that sustainable packaging can meet luxury performance. Its bars are vegan, cruelty-free, and free of harmful ingredients like sulfates, parabens, silicones, and phthalates. By combining high performance with zero-waste design, Dip sets a new standard for clean beauty that's grounded in science, transparency, and long-term environmental impact — not trends.
