Green Building

When certification is not an option, consider the implementation of a green building practice independent of LEED and not already listed in this application in any other section.  Some options can be found in the NJ Green Building Manual.   

A couple examples to considerinclude the use of  low-emitting materials to improve indoor air quality and the use of moisture control measures to prevent mold.

Using low or no VOC paints helps to improve indoor air quality and reduce the emissions of VOC into the environment. Using VOC paint also minimize toxic runoff, reduce groundwater  contamination, and reduces air pollution.

Not only are you preventing from materials going into the landfill you can also save money compared to brand new furniture. Using reclaimed wood helps to decreasing demand of new wood leading to less deforestation and lowering of your carbon footprint.

Reclaimed and refurbished furniture helps support a cirular economy and reduceds green house gasses significantly. It also gives spaces more character and allows for your space to tell a unique story.
