Example Action: Adopt a EV incentive program for employees.

• Hire employees who live locally when possible. 
• Encourage and organize carpooling programs to help employees share rides. In addition to reducing emissions, ridesharing helps reduce gasoline costs, vehicle wear and tear and traffic congestion. 
• Connect employees to the NJ DOT’s Rideshare Matchlist. 

Example Action: Describe your sustainable communiting program and how you promote it.

• Encourage employees to follow state anti-idling regulations, which prohibit unnecessary vehicle idling for more than three minutes in New Jersey, learn more at Stop the Soot. 
• Specific industries in particular contribute heavily to idling particularly food delivery services, retail loading and unloading areas, and company vehicles. 

Example Action: Describle how you enforce anti-idling policies.

• Offer commuter benefits, such as covering the cost of monthly transit passes or providing partial reimbursement for public transportation expenses. 
• Provide employees with access to public transit information, schedules, and resources.

• Greenways can provide a safer option for bicyclists and pedestrians by offering routes that are separated from vehicular traffic. Share this greenway map with employees to help them identify safe commuting routes and consider biking or walking as transportation options.

• Offer remote or hybrid work schedules to reduce transportation-related emissions.

• Flexible work options can also improve employee satisfaction by providing greater flexibility and reducing commuting stress. 

• Purchase goods and services locally whenever possible to reduce transportation-related emissions and support the local economy. 
• Buying locally can also strengthen community and encourage local business growth.
